CNS – GIF Special

So it’s been some time since news broke that Marvel’s Daredevil was cancelled and would not be returning for a Fourth Outing. To express our sadness and show that we are very much against this recent decision, we’ve compiled a Montage of GIFs from Giphy.com and other sources that represent the moment we found out about the Cancellation, and show our anger, rage, frustration and sadness that the Man Without Fear is no more. We hope that Daredevil is “Born Again” on Disney’s New Streaming Service, ‘Disney+’, although Sources claim the Series won’t fit in with the Family-Oriented Theme.

Note: Some of the GIFs and Captions over-exaggerate the Emotion, we would never harm anyone.

Note: WE DO NOT OWN THESE GIFS!

Looking forward to Season 4 of Marvel’s Daredevil!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe Films never reference anything done by Characters in any of the Television Series or the Events that take place, but the Television Division makes frequent references in almost every Show. We would like to prove this to you, so we have compiled a diverse range of References to the Movies and their Narratives made in different Seasons of the Marvel TV Shows. The Majority of these have been extracted from MarvelCinematicUniverseWikia. com. Click here to the site to view all References and Easter Eggs for the Movies.

MARVEL’S DAREDEVIL

Season 1

  • Ben Urich covered the news for the main events portrayed in New York City during the Marvel Cinematic Universe films up to that moment, more specifically the Duel of Harlem from The Incredible Hulk and the Battle of New York from The Avengers. The only one that was missing was the Battle at Stark Expo from Iron Man 2.
  • Foggy Nelson namedrops Captain America in the episode Speak of the Devil, who in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a publicly known superhero.

Season 1

MARVEL’S JESSICA JONES

  • Similar to Daredevil, the Battle of New York is called “The Incident” in the episode AKA 99 Friends. The battle is also mentioned in the episode AKA It’s Called Whiskey.
  • In the episode AKA It’s Called Whiskey, Luke Cage mentions Hulk and the Avengers as “the big green dude and his crew”.

Season 2

  • The Raft, an underwater prison introduced in Captain America: Civil War, is mentioned in several episodes of Season Two.

MARVEL’S LUKE CAGE

Season 1

  • DW is shown selling DVDs of the Incident on the street of Harlem.
  • Rafael Scarfe witnessed the Incident from the ground, making him realizing how irrelevant the police was.
  • The Judas Bullet was created by Hammer Industries from salvaged Chitauri technology from the Incident.

Season 2

  • In Episode 5: “All Souled Out”, at the party, someone asks Luke, “Who’s tougher: you or the Green Monster?” Undoubtedly, this is referring to Bruce Banner’s alter-Ego  ‘The Hulk’, who was last seen getting beaten by Thanos in Infinity War.
  • In Episode 9: “For Pete’s Sake”, it is revealed that all of those guns that Mariah sold were Hammer Tech, which is owned and operated by Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) from “Iron Man 2.” Those weapons were able to fire the Judas bullets that previously used to be able to harm Luke before he got his second bath.

MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Multiple Seasons

  • Many characters from the movies and one-shots have appeared in recurring or guest roles, such as Phil Coulson, Maria Hill, Nick Fury, Felix Blake, Jasper Sitwell, Sif, Peggy Carter, Dum Dum Dugan, Jim Morita, Doctor List, Matthew Ellis and Gideon Malick.

Season 1

  • References to the Avengers as a team as well as individual members Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hulk, and agents Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff.
  • Phil Coulson’s “Cellist” former girlfriend from The Avengers is referenced both by Coulson and Raina before being formally introduced, revealing her name as Audrey Nathan.
  • Emil Blonsky’s fate after the events depicted in The Incredible Hulk is revealed. He is contained in a cryo-cell in Alaska.

Season 3

  • In Episode 11: “Bouncing Back”, Phil Coulson tells Matthew Ellis: “We’ll keep doing what we do, and you’ll keep pretending we don’t exist.” This may be a meta reference to the fact that the continuity of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has not yet been acknowledged within the narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Season 4

  • In Season 4, it is revealed that the newly appointed Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Jeffrey Mace, was in Vienna during the Events of Captain America: Civil War, when Helmut Zemo set off the Bombs that killed King T’Chaka, the father of T’Challa/Black Panther. According to a Photograph taken during the Bombing, Jeffrey used his supposed Inhuman Powers of Strength to rescue an injured Civillian from a chunk of falling Debris. This is then later debunked, as it is revealed that Mace’s Powers come from an Experimental Serum, and that he tripped at the Vienna Summit, but the Photo made it look like he was a Hero.

Season 5

  • In Episode 21: “The Force of Gravity”, Glenn Talbot/Graviton is warned by Qovas and Taryan that an attack on Earth led by Thanos was imminent. As Talbot decided to leave and fight Thanos, Taryan advised him against it, claiming that Thanos was too powerful even for Talbot. Taryan, Qovas and Talbot all agreed that Talbot had to absorb more Gravitonium to become more powerful.

Forbidden Planet – A 360° Vision of Comic-Book Awesomeness

So as promised, here it is!

I took a trip back to Forbidden Planet, located on Silver Street, Leicester, and used the ‘Google Street view’ app, to take multiple pictures all around in one ‘Sphere’ of the entire 1st Floor of the Store.

The Process was tedious and annoying as sometimes the pictures you take don’t align at times and it begins to look very messy. Notice how the Ceiling, floor and the almost symmetrical Comic-Book Stand look very out of place and weird. Though that shouldn’t put you guys off! Look at the Wall of Marvel Legends Figures and the Batman Statues on the Top Shelf!

When possible, I will upload more interactive Content such as this Masterpiece in the next few days or so.

Chloe Bennet: “Marvel, why don’t you acknowledge what happens on our show?”

Chloe Bennet Image from:

Upload.wikimedia.org. (n.d.). [online] Available at: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d9/Chloe_Bennet_%2840400333934%29.jpg [Accessed 7 Jan. 2019].

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Actress Chloe Bennet, who plays Daisy ‘Skye Johnson’ A.K.A. Quake called out Marvel Studios for not acknowledging what happens in the Television Show.

Bennet spoke at Wizard World Des Moines Comic Con at the time (May 2016) [Credits to Screencrush]:

“I am kind of, like, ready for Steve Rogers to make an appearance on our show. I’d be OK with that. And like, where’s Romanoff? Where’s the Avengers? Or maybe Robert Downey Jr. as Robert Downey Jr. That would be kinda nice. […]

People who make movies for Marvel, why don’t you acknowledge what happens on our show? Why don’t you guys go ask them that? Cause they don’t seem to care! […]

I would love [crossing over]. The Marvel Cinematic Universe loves to pretend that everything is connected, but then they don’t acknowledge our show at all. So, I would love to do that, but they don’t seem too keen on that idea.”

Personally, I agree with Bennet. Marvel Television, be it Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC, Marvel’s Runaway’s on Hulu, Cloak & Dagger on Freeform or even The Defenders & the respective Solo Series on Netflix, always make an effort to address events that happen in the film or even certain characters who have made an impression publicly e.g. Captain America, Thor, iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow etc. (Read the blog post about Marvel TV referencing the films here).

Though I will admit that for the films to reference anything that happens in the TV Shows or addressing empowered characters like Daredevil, The Runaways or Cloak & Dagger, it all comes down to script writing, production schedules and the entire process of making the films.

Marvel does state that ‘It’s all Connected’, but it is only Marvel Television that provides a connection too the films. The films are only worried about bigger threats like Thanos and only crossover between other films (hence Infinity War). Still, that’s no excuse. It would’ve been nice if in Infinity War, Tony Stark found and asked Iron Fist (provided that they become business contacts first) to watch over NYC while he and Spider-Man flew into Space to save Dr. Strange.

I could go on and say “she’s right, he’s wrong”, but that won’t get us too far. The solution to the problem is for both divisions of the Comic-Book Conglomerate to halt productions for a moment, come together and start thinking about weaving connections & big, ongoing crossovers. I dream of the day Black Widow meets Daredevil and Elektra. If it can happen in the Comics, it can happen in Live-Action franchises too.

About Me (The Main Blogger @ CNS)

To get the boring stuff out of the way, let’s talk about me for once. Born & raised in Multicultural Leicester, my infatuation began with Marvel when [as a young kid with so much time to kill after School and on the weekends] I started watching the Fox & Sony Marvel films of the early 2000s. (Think Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man, Ang Lee’s ‘The Hulk, Tim Story’s ‘Fantastic 4’ etc.) Thanks Dad!

From then onwards I watched all of the Animated Cartoons (plus a little DC) and that’s what got my brain to divulge in reading Wikipedia pages about everything Marvel. Skip 20170805_214703forward years & years, we have a MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe of Film & TV)! This is the best time to live!

I have been called many things. A Comic Book Geek. Content Creator. Blogger. Binge-Watcher. Call me what you will, but at heart, I am… a True Believer.
